Part Timers Dignity: Revolutionizing the Part-Time Job Experience

Reshaping the Work Environment with Courtesy, Responsibility, and Respect

Part-time jobs have become an integral part of the modern workforce, providing flexibility and additional income for many individuals. However, these jobs often come with their own set of challenges and discomforts. Recognizing the need for change, designer Jung Beom Park has created Part Timers Dignity, an innovative app that aims to improve the work environment for both employers and part-time workers.

Part Timers Dignity is not just another app; it is a solution to the uncomfortable situations faced by part-time workers and store owners. By addressing the loopholes in the existing part-time job system in Korea, this app promotes a smoother and clearer relationship between employers and part-time workers. With the slogan "Don't be self-conscious. Be confident," Part Timers Dignity focuses on creating a work environment that values courtesy, responsibility, and respect.

The app offers a range of features designed to enhance the part-time job experience. On the part-time worker's page, users can easily calculate their hourly wage, access their employment contract, and check their bank account. Additionally, the app introduces individual and private chat functionalities, allowing part-time workers to communicate with employers on a personal level. Group chats among part-time workers are also available, facilitating the search for replacements or discussions regarding urgent circumstances.

One of the app's standout features is the chatbot, which provides quick explanations of relevant legislation and specific procedures in case of unreasonable situations. This ensures that part-time workers are well-informed and empowered to address any issues they may encounter.

Part Timers Dignity was developed based on extensive research and feedback from both part-time workers and store owners. By integrating their opinions and experiences, the app was tailored to meet their specific needs and expectations. The design team, consisting of Jung Beom Park, Kim Eun-jee, and Kwon Ji-young, utilized Adobe PS, AI, AE, and XD to create the app's graphics, characters, and user interface.

The design of Part Timers Dignity was not without its challenges. To create a feasible app, the team had to stay up-to-date with the ever-changing laws and regulations surrounding the part-time job system. This required continuous modification and adaptation to ensure compliance with the latest trends and legal requirements.

The project, which began in 2016 and underwent revisions in 2021, was exhibited at the Kaywon College of Arts Design exhibition. Part Timers Dignity has garnered recognition for its innovative approach and commitment to improving the quality of life for part-time workers. The design was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2022 in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category. This prestigious award celebrates designs that showcase creativity, resourcefulness, and a dedication to enhancing the human experience.

Part Timers Dignity is a testament to the power of design in addressing real-world issues. By prioritizing courtesy, responsibility, and respect, this app is reshaping the part-time job landscape, creating a more positive and empowering work environment for all.
